Margaret DiGaetano, M.D.
Dr. DiGaetano’s peers recognized her as “One of the Best Doctors in Florida” because of her outstanding clinical skills. She was also named one of “America’s Top Ophthalmologists” and “One of the Top Doctors in Her Field” based on her clinical training and experience.
Because Dr. DiGaetano devoted her practice exclusively to cataract and lens implant surgery, she was able to concentrate all of her efforts on finding the best lens implant solution for each of her cataract patients. Dr. DiGaetano considers it a privilege to have restored the vision to so many thousands of patients. She continues to be sought out for her advice on when cataract surgery is appropriate and when to wait, and which lens option is best for each patient.
Dr. DiGaetano is Board Certified and a graduate of the University of Florida in Gainesville with an interdisciplinary degree in Neuroscience. She graduated with high honors and is a member of Phi Beta Kappa. She completed her internship in Internal Medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston and her residency in Ophthalmology at LSU Eye Center at the Louisiana State University Medical Center. She is member of the American Medical Association (AMA), American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS), and the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO).
Itza Acevedo, MD
Dr. Acevedo is a highly skilled board-certified ophthalmologist committed to providing exceptional care to her patients. Born and raised in Puerto Rico, Dr Acevedo’s medical career began at the University of Puerto Rico at Mayaguez Campus, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Biology. Her unwavering passion for science and healthcare led her to pursue her Doctor of Medicine degree at the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine, where she demonstrated exceptional academic prowness and graduated in 2014 and was one of the Top ten in her class.
After her medical education, Dr Acevedo completed a rigorous residency program in Ophthalmology at University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine. During her training, she developed expertise in both clinical and surgical aspects of ophthalmology, while contributing to the scientific community through research. Her work was presented at esteemed national meetings, such as the ASCRS and ARVO, demonstrating her dedication to advancing the field. During her tenure in Daytona Beach, she collaborated with Dr Margaret DiGaetano, who provided mentorship while sharing surgical time to tackle intricate surgical cases.
Dr Acevedo is a bilingual ophthalmologist with a specialized focus on the anterior segment of the eye. Her expertise encompasses a comprehensive range of surgical procedures, including cataract surgery (with premium lenses), glaucoma surgery, pterygium surgery, chalazion removal, eyelid surgery, and treatment or uveitis. Dr Acevedo’s unwavering commitment to excellence ensures that each patient receives the highest standard of care.

Itza Acevedo, MD
Dr. Acevedo was born and raised in Puerto Rico. She attended University of Puerto Rico at Mayaguez Campus graduating with a Biology bachelor’s degree. She received her Doctor of Medicine degree from University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine in 2014 and was one of the Top ten in her class. After that she completed the residency program in Ophthalmology at University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine. During this time, she performed research and presented posters at the ACRS and ARVO. She is member of the American Medical Association (AMA), the American Ophthalmology Association (AOA), the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ACRS), and the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO).
Dr. Acevedo is a Board Certified Physician and a Comprehensive Ophthalmologist proficient in English and Spanish, with special interest in Anterior Segment. Her procedures include but are not limited to Cataracts, premium lenses, Glaucoma Surgery, Pterygium surgery, Chalazion surgery, skin tag removal, eye lid surgery and Uveitis treatment.
James Li, M.D.
Dr. James Li is a highly trained ophthalmologist who completed both his medical education and residency at Louisiana State University (LSU) in New Orleans. With a strong commitment to delivering extraordinary eye care, Dr. Li focuses on personalized treatments to help his patients achieve their best possible vision.
Outside of his medical practice, Dr. Li enjoys staying active by playing tennis and lifting weights. He believes that a balanced, healthy lifestyle is key to overall well-being, which he brings into his patient care philosophy.
